OVERVIEW
Anti-idiotype antibodies specifically bind to the unique idiotope located in the variable region of the target antibody. During drug development, they can be used to selectively identify therapeutic antibodies in vivo and distinguish them from endogenous antibodies naturally present in serum and other samples, making them essential reagents for pharmacokinetic (PK) studies. In addition, due to their similarity to anti-drug antibodies (ADA), anti-idiotype antibodies also serve as important references in immunogenicity assessments.
-
Competitive Type
Competes with antigen for binding
Complementarity-determining region (CDR) specificity
Detects free-form antibody drugs
-
Non-competitive Type
Do not compete with antigen for binding
Non-CDR specificity
Detects total antibody drug
-

Do not compete with antigen for binding
Specific to antigen-antibody complex
Detects bound-form antibody drugs
